The start of 2023 gives everyone an opportunity to set some goals, reflect on the previous 12 months and plan for the future. It is often seen as a chance to reset and navigate your way towards a better future.

Business owners especially will want to make sure that the future of their business is prosperous. Following through with your new years resolutions and sticking to them throughout the new year is easier said than done. As a business owner here are some tips that will help you keep your new year’s resolutions.

You Need to Be Realistic

The best way to make sure you don’t achieve your goal is to make sure that your goal is unattainable. For example; it would be unrealistic to set a goal where you aim to never eat your favourite food again. It would instead be more appropriate to set a goal where you eat your favourite food less often.

Plan Ahead

You should make sure that you decide what your New Year resolutions are going to be well before the 31st December. Your goals should be well thought-out weeks in advance as opposed to being made at the last minute.

Outline Your Plan

If you fail to plan than you are planning to fail. You need to ask yourself how will you deal with any type of temptation you have to skip an exercise class or the temptation to spend your spare time scrolling mindlessly through social media. You are also need to practice positive thinking and become more mindful of your self-talk and the narrative that you have in your head.

Write Up a List of The Pros and Cons Associated with Keeping Your New Year’s Resolutions

It might also make it easier to become more motivated to keep your resolutions if you see a list of items written on a piece of paper. You should develop this list over a period of time and also ask your friends and colleagues to contribute to it as well. Make sure you keep is list and keep looking at it whenever you feel unmotivated or become at risk of not keeping your resolutions.

Talk About It

You should never keep your resolution a secret. The more you tell other people about it the more you will feel motivated to keep it. If you are super lucky you might even know someone else who is trying to achieve the same resolution as you. By finding someone who shares the same resolution you can be accountability buddies and help each other keep your resolutions.

Keep Track of Your Progress

You need to make sure that you keep track of each small milestone that you reach whilst you try to achieve your goals. Short-term goals are much less difficult to obtain. Reaching each small goal will motivate you to want to keep moving forward and achieve some of the biggest goals you have set yourself.

Make It Become a Habit

Psychologists say that it usually takes 21 days for a new activity to transform itself into becoming a habit. It also takes usually 6 months for a habit to become part of your personality. There is no such thing as becoming an overnight success and it is important to make sure that you are patient, disciplined and make sure that you keep persevering until it becomes part of your personality.

Set Goals That Are Very Specific

You need to make sure that your goals aren’t vague. Setting a goal that is as basic as make more money is too vague. You need to be more specific and set a goal such as make up a list of new potential sources of revenue and ways to can expand upon your existing offerings to make them become more profitable.
